Something Sweet

Something sweet
is kindled
by the words that
I speak.

A perfume
like that of roses
You inhale
from my lips.

My tongue licks
the dreamer’s feet and she dances
The slippery dance
of oblivious ecstasy.

We clap our hands
and you with your tambourine
echo the crashing turmoil
of the gods’ love-embattled beds.

This song is the naked goddess
of the wind,
running through the wildflowers,
her feet sticky with nectar.

She is approaching!
Can’t you sense her coming?
For she has been here before...

And this song is not a parable
for it merely rises
and this song has no end
for it merely sparks new songs.

Have you a verse to offer, my love?
Ah, yes. Your kiss like a coda
like the wind
envelops my heart with rapture
and I start again!

Song! Oh, ancient redeemer of souls!
Light that burns naked for all time!
Let me unwind your scroll
For a love that is true and divine!
