In the church that preaches kindness,
Is it not hubris that rings the bell?
Is it not lust that creates balance
In this world between Heaven and Hell?
Is not the desire to be holy
An avarice for unearthly wealth?
Ah, but these are but foolish questions
In a world that we must come to love
Or else, disdaining, leave no richer in our souls.
For no, it is not hubris that rings the bell,
But longing.
Lust creates no balance, but rather, it is love.
And there is no avarice in the holy man,
But only understanding, a forbearance and patience
The allows him to answer these questions
Just as I have to you, now.
