Their eyes betray desire and bewilderment, an innocence searching for a way out, beckoning the overpowering lust of men. Their own lust is disguised by a fleetingness and ethereality, a restless evasiveness. They watch us out of the corner of their eye, waiting to sense the black pall that will cover them in the sad and sensual stupor that leads to sex—from the heart of men's eyes. They seek strength to lift them up and to force them down. For they are neither of the earth or of the sky. Upon a glance, they seem to move with the grace of water, and upon close inspection, they drag with the friction of their clandestine flaws against the solid and immovable earth.
